EXPLORING
Title: Hesperides
A novel. A woman returns to the mountainous region of her upbringing and searches for a cabin in a valley where she can live a simple peaceful life. As she searches for the right place, it becomes apparent that there is something wrong with each of the isolated valley communities in this region. In fact, each bears a local curse—resulting in localized plagues, infestations, and manias of various sorts, some obvious, some hidden. The woman discovers and escapes from these curses one by one over the course of a summer, survives the region's worst fire season in memory, navigates the decision of whether to stay or leave again with the help of old and new friends, and finds hidden parts of herself.
