BIO
Alex currently lives in Chicago with his husband and their sweet cat Abe. Alex has been in Chicago for over six years after finishing his graduate degree in Gastronomy at Boston University. A Kentucky native, he always pines for the rolling hills of home despite loving his current life. Alex is pursuing new professional options after recently leaving a career in healthcare administration management (ask him your health insurance questions). He is most excited about reading books, buying books (separate hobby), listening to music, and developing his writing and essays. Alex is always thinking about connections between people and places and ways we can liberate each other within community. In his free time, you'll find Alex hanging out and eating with friends or out dancing to house music.

My main goal is to create a recurrent creative habit (and also believe in myself).
INSPIRED BY
Really good prose writing, queers being their authentic creative selves, therapy, people willing to do the hard thing for the greater good, and honestly people believing in me and rooting for me.
EXPLORING
I am developing my ideas and identity as a writer. I have taken a few online writing courses the last couple of years and I'd like to delve into the practice and flesh out my project ideas. I am mainly identifying as an essayist, but I have a few projects I'd like to flesh out. First, there is a memoir/researched essay collection I would like to develop exploring food, grief, and community. I have a couple of ideas already for some essays in this collection. Informing this is my graduate degree in Gastronomy (food culture studies) from Boston University. I also have some standalone essay ideas unrelated to food I'd like to work on. Finally, I do have one idea for a novel revolving around envy, modern dating, and body image.
